strength to strength, thanks to a loyal following of musicians (poets, etc) and audience members.
Even better, it has never stagnated, with a flow of fresh faces who have ensured that every Alleycats is always different and entertaining.
We don't pre-book performers. Just turn up on the night, let us know you'd like to play and if there's time, you're on. It's first come, first serve with no preferential treatment. We may change the running order (usually for the player's benefit), but not the opportunity to play. It's very informal, very friendly and we only have one rule. Please tune up before getting on stage. It's usually busy, so we don't want to lose valuable time.
We allow three songs per act (occasionally more, very rarely less), as most people need the first song to get into the swing of things. There's usually a good number of great musicians willing to support nervous players.
We are very proud of the community that has grown around Alleycats, with very good people, and a conitnual stream of new faces who enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and friendliness. You will be made welcome, and nervous players are always well supported by everyone.
